Hello PPNA folks,
If you don't know there is an election coming up AUGUST 5th. This election will likely decide who will sit next to Brian Robb as our 2nd Ward 3 council member.
There will be a forum on Tuesday July 29th in which the two democratic candidates, Pete Murdock and Rod Johnson will be answering questions from the audience. The Event runs from 7-8:30pm at the Frog Island Amphitheater. The Corner Brewery has been selected as the rain site.
If anyone is willing to help deliver flyers in the neighborhood please contact me at kdasmoot at comcast.net
In other news, I'm working on putting together an Ypsilanti Community Field Day at Riverside and Frog Island Parks. This event is just in the planning stages but I'd like input as to what you'd like to see there and if you can help out. The tentative date for the event will be Sept 13th 2008.
The plan for the event is that there will be a base organization that controls the logistics of the event and some of the activities but for the most part the activities will be controlled by businesses, community-groups, and citizens.
I will be promoting the neighborhood v. neighborhood Ypsilanti Games in which Kick-Ball will be a large part of our run to have the PPNA champions of the Ypsilanti Games. If you want to play kick-ball on the PPNA team drop me an email.
We also plan on having a stage set up and having live music on the stage all day.
If you are in a local band or know one that is willing to play for free -- drop me an email and I'll explain the selection process.
Other events might include -- depending on if someone volunteers to set them up --
Job Fair, Art Fair, Busking Areas for performers - small acoustic areas, story times, face painters, garden competitions, anything you can imagine is a possible.
The entire concept of the community fair is to be a showcase of Ypsilanti, it's citizens, businesses and groups.
If you have any ideas about what you'd like to see or want to plan something for community day please email me at kdasmoot at comcast.net and remember if you are available to hand out fliers contact me.
Thanks
Kurt Anschuetz
