Last night we had the PPNA meeting and it went well. We had about 20 people in attendence. I really would like more folks to show up and share ideas and help with the neighborhood association. Here is a brief list of topics we discussed.

* Neighborhood directory -- I want to make sure we have contact information for the neighborhood. If you are a member of the PPNA and receive this please email me at prospectparkneighborhood at comcast.net with your and members of your families names (kids ages), Your address, Your phone Number, your email address, if you are willing to be a neighborhood or city volunteer (no pressure you'll just get emails about volunteer opportunities or a call if a neighbor needs help with something), Your pets names and a brief discription - so if someone sees a cat or dog wandering around we might be able to place it. Only give information you are comfortable sharing with your neighbors.

* The only issue brought up to the officer in attendence was that it appears that the garage window belonging to 301 (I think that is the address) Forest had been forced open. I want to encourage anyone that sees something like a window that is open when it shouldn't be or any suspicious activity to call the police non-emergency number at 734 483-9510 let them decide if they should check it out. At the East Prospect Park meeting some of the members complained about suspicious soliciters. In Ypsilanti all soliciters must have a city issued permit so ask them and if they don't and they are really suspicious call the police and they'll come run a check on the folks.

* Bob Krzewinski on Dwight asked us to sign a resolution in support of the Border to Border Trail. Basically the resolution states that this is a project important to the people of our neighborhood and is something we support. A majority of those in attendence signed the resolution. I've attached a copy of the resolution so if you didn't sign it and are in support please print off a copy and turn it into Bob at 706 Dwight.

* We talked of having a December Dinner at a local restaurant. This will be a one price meal (probably $10 or $15 per person) depending on what is on the menu. Most people were in support of this so I'm going to talk with Cady's today to try to make arrangements.

* We talked of Christmas Caroling and people seemed in support of this too. A long time ago we would gather as a group and carol around our neighborhood and the HESNA neighborhood. We would have host houses which would have warm drinks and made it a pretty good time. I think we could make this really fun and it will also give visibility to our neighborhood association. If you would like to be on the Caroling committee, want to join us, or would like to be a host house let me know. We will need to create Holiday Song books for those of us that don't know the words. We could also use some musicians to accompany us.

* CBS reality show -- It looks like we are finally getting a group together to try out for the CBS reality show - "The Ultimate Blockparty." They are looking for 7-10 families all in one neighborhood that are interesting (It is TV) to compete for a 'life changing' amount of money. Please let me know if you are interested, I can answer most of your questions. A group of interested folks are meeting at the Corner Brewery at 6pm this Friday.

* Block captains: We had some folks volunteer to be block captains but we can use more -- The job of a block captain is to get to know the neighbors on your block. The block captain network should make it easier to get the word out about neighborhood activities and concerns. Please become a block captain or a block captain helper.

* Various issues talked about with our Council Members - The Thompson Block (Corner of Cross and River) -- it doesn't look like anything is going to be done with this building, financing is the problem. 631 N. River (The little house with the tree in it), The paperwork for a demolition permit was submitted again and once approved then talk of demolition will begin. The Mongolian BBQ downtown -- Should be opening very soon. The banks are responsible for foreclosed homes - if the walks aren't shoveled we have 2 choices 1) take care of it ourselves 2) bother the city until they clear the walks and they will bill the bank that owns the home.
