Leaves and the campaign season

Hello Neighbors,

I want you to know that City Council passed an ordinance to limit yard waste problems. As you may or may not know - All yard waste needs to be bagged, put in a dedicated trash-can, or bundled. Read the full rules here: http://cityofypsilanti.com/services/public_services/trsh_rcyc/yardwaste The new ordinance states that you will be issued a fine if you leave yard-waste on the median (between street and sidewalk) or push it into the street for more than 48hrs. The city can fine you or have a contractor pick it up then fine and charge you. I was told that the 48 hour rule will not be enforced for the fall leaf pick-up. We will have a single bulk leaf pick-up this year (probably none next year). If you miss the bulk leaf pick-up you must bag your leaves. This ordinance was passed because so many people missed the deadline last year and shoved their leaves into the street. It is my guess is that they will enforce it.

Tonight - Oct 10th -- there is a fundraiser for the Veterans For Peace, Scholarship Fund at the Corner Brewery. Quite a few local bands will be playing John Lennon tunes in celebration of his birthday (which was the 9th). The cost for the benefit is $10.00 which I believe is tax deductible. It's a good cause and should be a good time.

Check out Luna 'Lake' next time you are walking around - We planted something like 1500 plants so it should be amazing in the Spring.
