Please Join us for the Prospect Park Summit #2 -- Folks from the 4 surrounding neighborhood associations will be meeting at Adams School in the Multi Purpose Room -- enter from the parking lot, to the right of the main doors it is a weird steel security door but this is where you enter. We will then walk around Prospect Park and discuss what we'd like to see there, events, group activities, maintenance etc.

Sometime over the next couple of weeks I'd like to get volunteers to work with me to meet our neighbors. We will say hello and conduct a brief survey. I would like to get as many folks as I can on this email list and know which folks don't get email so we can get flyers to them about important events in the neighborhood. This will be a knocking on the doors campaign but we'll try to make it fun. If anyone has a replica of the 'Blues Mobile' from the Blues Brothers Movie it would be a helpful tool.

Saturday April 4th @ 9a (this Saturday!)
The Easter Bunny will be in Frog Island!
The Ypsilanti Area Jaycees invite you and your family to a fun filled morning of Easter Egg hunting, games, crafts and the famous Marshmallow Drop. This year’s event begins Saturday, March 15 at 9:00am, rain or shine, at Frog Island Park in Depot Town. The hunts start at 10:00 am and the drop is at 11:00 am. Registration starts at 9am (cost is $1 per child). Plan to arrive early, as candy is only guaranteed for the first 500 children!

The Marshmallow Drop will feature a helicopter dropping 75 pounds of marshmallows on the field at one time, over 3000 marshmallows.

Children’s events will include a jelly bean guessing jar, a sucker tree, and a bean bag toss. The Ypsilanti Area Jaycees have been running the Easter Egg Hunt since 2001, and have had on average 500 children enjoy the event each year. Many thanks to the volunteers and donors who make this event possible, and to Helicopter Services of Wayne, Michigan for making the marshmallow drop possible.

Team President Rob Hilliard will be available to answer questions about season tickets , group pricing, sponsorship opportunities, and becoming a host family for the 2009 season. In addition, come and discuss how to keep minor league baseball in Ypsilanti permanently!

Please volunteer to help out the Border to Border Trail! A large segment of the trail runs through Ypsi, and in order to assure that we get funding for it, we need to see how many people are using it. Contact me if you want or need maps of the trail!

"The Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation, Planning and Public Health Departments are working with Michigan State University to complete a trail usage survey of the Border To Border Trail. By gathering data on trail usage and demonstrating how the existing trails are being used, Washtenaw County will be better able to leverage available local, State and federal funding to complete the trail.

Volunteers then are needed for a user survey of Border To Border Trail from mid-April through May 2009. Survey sites will be at Bandemer Park, Gallup Park, Ford Lake and the EMU campus. For a survey flyer click here For survey volunteer information (including a short training video) click here . To volunteer (shifts are only for a few hours) contact Anya Dale at 734-222-6848 or dalea at ewashtenaw.org .
