Hello Neighbors,

Here are some things to do around Ypsilanti that I find interesting and perhaps you will too. Two are events and two concern the future of the City. Most importantly get out and support a local business this week. If you haven't noticed -- Fantasy Attic Costumes is now open in Depot Town, If you need make-up, fake ears, a mask or full costume or any other odd thing check them out.

Feel free to write me at prospectparkneighborhood at comcast.net

Take care,
Kurt

TONIGHT!!!

Corner Brewery - Ypsilanti Heritage Foundation – BEER GEEK NIGHT! Jan 21, 2009 07:30 PM
The "History of Ypsilanti Beer" 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. in the Lounge. Mike O'Brien will talk about the history of beer - with information about the production in Ypsilanti. Earnest Griffin will have his collection of vintage Ypsilanti beer bottles on display. YHF will have photos - including one of an early malt factory that was just up the street from Corner Brewery. This program is one of a series of programs offered by the Ypsilanti Heritage Foundation - whose mission is to increase public understanding and appreciation of Ypsilanti's great wealth of historic architecture.

I also heard that they will have a special beer on tap which will represent the taste of historic beer.

Public hearing on Water Street zoning amendments, Jan. 21

The Planning Commission will be discussing zoning amendments for the City’s Water Street property at a public hearing on Wednesday, January 21. The meeting will be held at 7 pm in City Council chambers at City Hall, One South Huron Street. The proposed amendments are available in the Planning Department at City Hall, or on the City’s website at the following address: http://cityofypsilanti.com/services/administration_services/planning_and_development/waterstreet/Water%20Street%20Zoning%20Text%20and%20Map%20-%20Proposed%2001

January 23-24
Vince Averill and Jesse Popp

Vince Averill and Jesse Popp will return to S.E. Michigan for a night of comedy. Both comics got their start in Michigan before moving to New York in 2006. They've both appeared on Comedy Central, and Vince is an EMU alum. Along with them they will be bringing Matt McCarthy. Matt has appeared on Comedy Central, Just for Laughs , and countless commercials (McDonald's, Verizon, Guinness). Greg Johnson rounds out the bill. Greg's weekly show in NYC was awarded the ECNY award for Best Variety Show in 2008.

Performances at 8:00 PM. Tickets ($12) available online: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/50970 .

I like to say that I'm responsible for Vince's comedy career so come out and support him -- in an odd way that isn't too far from the truth as I understand it.
