Hello neighbors,

You probably received your invitation to the neighborhood block party on your door this past weekend. I would like to thank the trusty volunteers who took their time to get those out to you. What I need you to do is to remind your neighbors to attend the block party. It is really a good time and their are some great folks that you would enjoy meeting.

EMU Return to Learn Open House August 5th -- Do you have college credits and no degree? EMU would like you to come back to college and finish. I plan on attending so you won't be alone.

This next report is from Interim Police Chief DeRidder -- The YPD does a fine job but remember you are their eyes and ears, if you see something or someone suspicious let them know and they will determine what to do with your information. You are not wasting their time by calling something in but please use the non-emergency line 483-9510

Subject: Recent Home Invasions

COPAC Representatives,

Please send this email out to your neighborhood association membership. (Not the news media)

Recently the Ypsilanti Police Department has investigated Home Invasions ( Breaking & Entering ) in the College Heights area. We had made a couple arrests and identified some subjects that we believed were involved. The Home Invasions stopped for a few weeks then recently started again and have moved around the City. The current area we are seeing a spike in Home Invasions are CHNA, Midtown N/A, Wood Rd N/A. This email is not to alarm or scare the residents but to inform and education all residents to be more careful and observant of suspicious behavior or subjects. Please if you see suspicious subjects in your neighborhood call the Ypsilanti Police Department and report it. ( 483-9510 or if emergency 911 )

The following are some help tips that we should practice:

-Turn on outside lights on during nighttime hours.

-Lock you doors and windows when you leave or turn in for the night.

-If you go on vacation, have someone collect or stop your mail, newspaper and notify your neighbors or call YPD for a vacation watch of your residence.

-Turn on radio/lights in your home. (Timers work great)

-Don’t leave lap tops or other moveable electronics in plain view from a window or sliding glass doors.

-Call the Police if your see any suspicious activity or subjects.

Thank you for your assistance and I will keep you updated with any new information.
