Hello Neighbors,
Another Long Note
General Notes:
Attached is the new 'official' policy on leaf pick up for this year. I know its a long way till fall but we don't want a leaf-gate on our hands. It basically says you have to bag or can all or your leaves and if it is cold enough for them to freeze in a can you must bag.
A very friendly German Shepherd was found in the area. If you see signs or know whose dog this is please contact me. Prospectparkneighborhood at comcast.net
The Normal Park Neighborhood Yard sale is coming up this weekend.
Tonight is the first City Council meeting since the HRC decided against the use of YpsiTucky. I have no idea if they are going to act on that tonight or if there will be any discussion. Since quite a few city council folks made up their mind, by signing the anti-ypsitucky petition, before the HRC made its decision I doubt there will be much debate. The question is what will they do?
Things To Do:
Today-Tuesday -- City Council Meeting, Downtown Farmers Market at the Key Bank building -- If you haven't bought farm fresh eggs you really should.
Wednesday at 7pm the East Prospect Park Neighborhood Association is having their general meeting -- Everyone is Invited. The meeting will be at the main Prospect Park Pavilion so bring your own chair if you want to sit. I will be there if you have any PPNA questions or concerns. They are going to have a Q&A session with the Mayor. If you can't make our neighborhood meeting on Monday this is probably a good one to attend.
Next Monday -- PPNA general meeting at 6:30 PM Cafe' Luwak in Depot Town
Issues to think about:
The Branding of our city? A big part of the Ypsitucky controversy is what 'brand' do we want for our city. Right now there are a few groups who have taken it upon themselves to decide what the 'brand' for the city should be. Its my opinion that the 'branding' of our city should be done by the citizens and not by business owners, a mostly closed committee, an independant resource (like the Visitor and Convention Bureau), or any other minority group. If you have ideas about what you want the 'branding' of Ypsilanti to be please pass them along to me.
As of now we don't have a Police Chief -- what do you think the city should concentrate on when choosing a new one?
Kurt
