Ypsilanti Neighbors and Friends, 



On Monday, November 9, at 6 p.m., Ypsilanti City Council will kick off a series of goal-setting meetings that will chart the city’s course for the next two fiscal years. Due to the steep decline in revenues and creeping expenses (see graph below), city services and expenses must be prioritized and restructured. During these meetings city staff will be presenting budget balancing options. 



The goal-setting meetings are the best way to learn more about how city government works. All interested persons are welcome. 



All meetings will be held in city council chambers starting at 6 p.m. 



· November 9, 2009 

o Presentation of five-year financial projections 

o Discussion of strategies to balance the general fund budget 

o Direction from city council to city staff for creating a budget reduction proposal 

o Discussion of goals and objectives for 2011 



· December 7, 2009 

o Presentation of budget reduction proposal and financial projections for the next two years 

o Discussion of the Rehman Robson study of the Public Services Department 



· January 11, 2010 

o Finalization of budget reductions for next year and five-year financial projections 

o Finalization of goals and objectives for next year
