Hello Neighbors,
Here are a few things that you might want to know about.
If you haven't been to J. Neils Mongolian Grille in the past I think you should make the fundraiser tomorrow. I will certainly be there enjoying a good meal. Come hungry so you walk out getting your monies worth. You are not allowed to take a doggie bag with the all you can eat but you are if you order a single bowl (which is more food than a normal person should eat in one sitting).
Thanks to Simply DeVine for hosting the book signing for a local author and if you are or know a single Mom go check it out
I'd like to remind you that we have a neighborhood author that has a new book out. Chris Berggren's book "Somewhere in the Sand: In search of Timbuktu is available at Amazon.com . Chris's book is a true story about a group of 20 somethings that pack their backpacks and find their way to Timbuktu in time for a New Year's Celebration. If you or anyone you know is interested in real life adventure I recommend this book. Find it at Amazon - Somewhere in the Sand.
Don't forget the leaf mulching clinic on Halloween day at Prospect Park.
A couple other briefs -
Pete sent me a notice from SemCog about the work they have done preparring for the A2 to Detroit Railroad. It appears things are still on target for service to begin one year from now.
City Council revised the snow removal ordinance. So remember to shovel your walks. You have 48 hours or you will be fined.
Hope to see you guys on Thursday at J. Neils Mongolian BBQ

Hi Kurt,
Not sure if anyone's contacted our group at all but my sitter works at
Monterra Franchise Services (Huron Street) and they've been feeding a
kitty who's been hanging around. It's orange with green eyes and
definitely an indoor kitty. If not, does anyone want a kitty? :)
She's going to forward a picture of the kitty as soon as she can. I'll
forward it to you when I get it.

Leaf mulching clinic
When Sat, October 31, 3pm – 4pm
Where Prospect Park ( map ) Description WHAT: LEAF MULCHING CLINIC (check out the door prizes!*) WHERE: PROSPECT PARK WHEN: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2009 at 3:00 PM WHO: PAUL SHEMON from CONGDON’s ACE HARDWARE MOW YOUR LEAVES… LEAVE WHAT YOU MOW! In May 2009, Ypsilanti City Council approved a resolution to eliminate the collection of loose leaves. This means that all leaves must be bagged or barreled to be picked up. Learning mulching techniques is a great way for City residents to handle this change in service, and provides organic food for your landscape! Mulching leaves where they fall creates a fine organic soil amendment. Michigan State University researchers achieved excellent results by shredding six-inch deep leaves into research lawns. To those who believe their lawn leaf cover is too deep to mulch, Ace Hardware’s Paul Shemon says, “Watch me!” On Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 Paul Shemon of downtown Ypsilanti’s Congdon’s Ace Hardware will demonstrate leaf mulching techniques at Prospect Park at 3pm. *One lucky Ypsilanti City resident will win the grand door prize: A mower donated by Ace Hardware. Must be present to win. Ace will provide other door prizes to City residents in attendance, after the grand prize mower is given away.* We have scheduled a press conference for 6pm on Thursday, Oct.29, 2009 at Recreation Park to publicize the mower give-away. Paul will demonstrate his mulching technique at that event also. Telephone the City of Ypsilanti Department of Public Services at 483-1421 for more
