Some stuff from meetings with other stuff piled on top

Hello Neighbors,

This week I had two meetings to go to on your behalf. The first was the 'Friends of Prospect Park' meeting and the second was CoPAC (Community Police Action Committee).

At The Friends of Prospect Park meeting we basically created an outline for the things we'd like to accomplish this year at Prospect Park. The major community project will be the repainting of at least one pavilion. This will be the 'cross street ' since it is in the worst shape. The City is going to make some repairs and sand blast it, then we paint. There is no time frame set for the workday.
The YMCA had a representative that wants families to know that they are going to hold a summer camp at the park again this year. The difference from last year is this year the camps will be a full day instead of a half. Camps at Prospect Park will run weekly from June 21st through July 23 (there will also be camps at Rec park from July 26 till August 20th). The camps are divided into weeks at a cost of $55.00 per child per week. The YMCA informed us that they don't turn anyone away so if money is tight they will figure out a way from your children to attend. Visit www.annarborymca.org for more information. The YMCA is also interested in helping us restore the old baseball diamond in the park.
Jamie Berlin came to the meeting to present her idea for a community garden in the park. She, and her team, have done a great job coming up with the plan for the garden. They will need volunteers to help them set up the garden and are looking for donation and people that would like to have a garden at the park.
We also talked about YpsiPride Day which is coming up on May 15th and projects we could do at the park. Cleaning Flower beds, Painting the cannon, putting sand in the sand box, and Picking up trash were among the projects proposed.
We also talked about starting the weekly trash pick-up on April 18th. We need volunteers one Sunday a month to show up at the park at 6pm to pick up trash. The trash detail should take less than an hour. I think we'll have a community picnic at the park when it is our turn to pick up trash, perhaps that will motivate folks to come out.
Remember June 26th is the Luna Lake Hoedown so SAVE THE DATE - JUNE 26th.

The CoPAC meeting was the annual - "Meet the heads of the City" meeting where department heads tell you what is going on. Stan Kirton of the DPW wanted to thank everyone for bagging there leaves last year. He said it saved enough to pay 1.5months worth of trash pick-up.

YARD WASTE PICK-UP BEGINS ON APRIL 5th this year . View the attached Document for more information

I learned that no law-suit has been filed against Stewart Beal in reference to the Thompson Block, Ed Koryzno says they are 'working with' Mr. Beal. I learned that the City is finally going to get its ladder truck back from the manufacture and it should work this time. I learned we are going away from the big book that keeps track of voters instead you will be checked in on a laptop before voting. I learned that the Motor Wheel Property is for sale but there has also been some exciting talk about a new use for some of the property (I'm keeping that to myself since there has been no word from either party of the negotiations.).
