Hello Neighbors,
I'd like to invite anyone that wants to attend a Neighborhood Association meeting to attend the EPPNA / PPNA joint meeting on Thursday April 1st in the Adams School Community Room . Enter the building from the North Parking lot entrance, Its just a blank steel door but it should be open. We have decided to combine our meetings to make it easier for the YPD, the Council members, and ourselves (besides -- they hold regular meetings every other month). I'll be there if you have any PPNA issues. The agenda can be found below.
Yard Waste Pick-up begins on our Trash Day after April 5th. Don't put your yard waste out yet.
For those that might care, Today is Oberon Day (it's a seasonal beer put out by Bell's Brewing of K-zoo if you didn't know). Sidetrack is offering $2.00 pints all day and giving away some Oberon crap too.
You will find information below on:
• Thursday - Growing Hope Community Potluck at the Senior Center
• Thursday - EPPNA / PPNA Neighborhood Association Meeting
• Thusday - 6pm Cycle Powered Cinema Project discussion / meeting at the Corner Brewery This is a cool project started by Mark Maynard. The plan is to show a movie or movies at Riverside Park with all the power being supplied by people peddling generators. Visit www.markmaynard.com or The Cycle Powered Cinema Website for more information.
• Saturday - A free clinic on Coloring Eggs with all natural dyes at the Food Co-op
• Saturday -The Hops for Hope fundraiser at the Corner Brewery

The Beer releases are a GREAT DEAL . If you can't make the PPNA meeting on the 1st you are welcome to bring up any issues to me at the Bliss Release.
• Friday - April 9th Friends of the Freighthouse Fundraiser Auction - This looks like a lot of fun with great items up for auction. Go if you can!!
• Friday - April 9th 5-9pm - First Friday (date changed due to 'Good Friday Holiday') Art, Music and Food in Depot Town. Visit Potts Studio for more info.
• Registration for the YMCA Summer Camps to be held this summer at Prospect and Rec Parks *The camps are now full day, not half. They assure me that no child will be turned away if a family can't afford the camp
• D onate to the Human Society through the "Walk and Wag" website - There are a couple of neighbors that are participating in this. Please donate to either one. BTW: If you haven't been to the new Human Society building I suggest you take a field trip, It is amazing.
In brief news:
• Wireless Ypsi has added another house in our neighborhood. If you are willing to buy and place an antenna in your home please contact www.wirelessypsi.com Its a great way for all of us to get connected. You can also donate if you'd like. We need people to sign up in our neighborhood that don't use Comcast or AT&T for their internet provider. If this is you PLEASE contact them to share your bandwidth - there are filters so you won't lose too much of your bandwidth.
• AM 1700 is on the air - If you are tuning the right side of your AM dial you might have come across WYPS Ypsilanti's own low powered AM Station. The signal is broadcast from Washington St. Downtown. Its basically run with play-lists now but I'll keep you informed when local DJs and local content will be aired. It is also streaming on the internet but that is in the Beta Stage. I'll post the link when it is ready for high bandwidth use.
Wow, there is a lot of stuff. Please attend as many of these events as you can and please plan on attending the neighborhood association meeting on April 1st. We really can get a lot of things done if we work together.
Take care,
Kurt Anschuetz

Campers attending a session of camp at Recreation Park will have the opportunity to swim at least once a week.
Financial Assistance
The cost for camp is $55.00 per child per week. A $10 deposit for each session of camp requested is due at the time of registration. Through the generous contributions of our donors, we are able to provide financial assistance to all members of the community through our sliding fee scale. Participants wishing to take advantage of our scholarship program should check a box on the registration form indicating what they are able to pay towards the cost of camp.

Dear Friend,
Did you know that the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) receives thousands of lost, stray, abandoned, abused and owner-surrendered animals each month? No animal is ever turned away.
In 2009 alone, HSHV:
• Found loving homes for 3,642 dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and other companion animals.
• Reunited 768 lost pets with their families.
• Performed 5,874 low/cost spay & neuters.
• Helped over 750 cats and kittens through our Trap, Neuter and Return Program.
• Placed 1,641 animals in temporary foster homes while awaiting adoption.
• Investigated over 500 cases of animal cruelty, giving protection to the beaten, hungry, and hurt.
• Responded to 1,153 calls to help injured and sick animals through our 24-hour animal rescue services.
• Provided 26,874 pounds of food through our Bountiful Bowls program.
• Improved their save rate from 50% (a national average) to the current rate of 80%.
HSHV is a private nonprofit organization. It is not affiliated with any other humane society, local or national. HSHV relies on the generosity of individuals and businesses to fund all of our programs.
Below are two teams that I know are participating in our neighborhood. It's Easy to donate and any amount helps. I'd like to point out that Linda French (of Sidetrack) and Rene Greff (of the Corner Brewery) have donated to this cause. Please make sure to support their businesses because they are always giving in the community.
