plus
will showcase the unique rain garden. Bob and Denise Slone are hosting
the unusual outing and invite community supporters to come and enjoy the
festivities.

“This is a great way to spend a Saturday,” said Bob Slone,
former Ypsilanti City Clerk. “For a nominal cost, people can purchase
incredible Freighthouse Wine, browse and buy art, enjoy live music and view
the plans to restore the Freighthouse to its
rightful place in our
community.”

The Deck Party will also include an 11 a.m. ribbon cutting
ceremony to mark the establishment of the rain garden, a one-of-a-kind
entity. To assist with the renovations and to encourage residents to
start a home rain garden, there will be a drawing to
win a rain barrel for
anyone who makes a donation of $50 or more. All donations of any amount are
also welcome and appreciated.

The recent awarding of federal and state
monies to assist with bringing the Freighthouse up to code amounts to about

the introduction of the Freighthouse Wine are two of several
fundraising
efforts planned to help with the effort.

“If you want to spend a
relaxing afternoon and have a cup of coffee on us, come to the Freighthouse,”
Slone said. “We all want to be a part of something positive and this is an
opportunity to be a stakeholder in a landmark.”

For more information or
