Here are a few opportunities to help you clean out your closets and cupboards to help others. <br><br> Let me know if you have OLD ratty T-shirts and Linens to donate to EMU GREEN so they can use the material to make things. These items can be in bad shape they will cut off what they can use and recycle the rest. Just contact me at kdasmoot@comcast.net and I will arrange to get them from you.<br><br> If you have clothes that are still fit to wear but you no longer need let me know and I'll get them to an appropriate charity or bring them down yourself. You should know that winter isn't the only time people need clothing. You can donate gently used clothing locally anytime of year. Donations are needed to keep the district’s
award winning Clothes Closet stocked for families in need. Gently used
clothing for infants to adults, including maternity wear, are accepted
and the inventory has expanded to includebaby supplies and linens
for the kitchen and bedroom. The Closet is open 1-4:30 every Wednesday
when school is in session. Students and their families who meet
eligibility requirements can utilize the service located at 1076 Ecorse
Rd. Details: Carolyn Falsetta, 734) 714-1019.</li><li>Give on! Another opportunity to help those in our community is being
coordinated at Chapelle Community School, 111 S. Wallace St. The
Everyone Values Everyone Clothing Drive is underway and gently used
clothing for all ages can be donated at the<br>school’s main office.
Donations will be accepted until Dec. 17. The clothes will be given
away on Dec. 17 between 4:30-7 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium. Those
wishing to take advantage of this free service will need to bring bags
to transport clothes. Details: Jason Malloy, (734) 714-1743. <br></li></ul>Of course food is needed too - <br><br><ul><li>Get on board! The Ypsilanti Education Association, the Ypsilanti
Support Staff Association and YPS administration invites the community
to contribute nonperishable food items for the district’s “Bus Load of
Hope” food drive to benefit Hope Clinic. Items can be dropped off
between 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Shadford Field parking
lot, adjacent to Ypsilanti High School. Hope Clinic is a non profit
that provides medical care and provides a food pantry to uninsured and
low-income families in Washtenaw County. Details: (734) 714-1202</li><li>You can also donate food to the Ypsilanti Pre-Thanksgiving dinner. Contact Tyrone at 734-444-4841 tyronbridges@yahoo.com. My guess is that they could also use some volunteer help.
